Dave Plourde is now the unofficial Mayor of Kapuskasing.

“I really appreciate all of the support I received over the past couple of months, it has been overwhelming. I intend to keep serving the residents of Kapuskasing as I have been doing for the past 24 years and I look forward to the new role. I feel I have a great council and there is alot of new faces, it is sad to see alot of the old faces go such as Frank (Siebert), Martin Dinnissen, always hard working, always gave great input at council, it is going to be sad to see them go. However, I think the tax payers of Kapuskasing have spoken and they spoke for change, and we have that and I look forward to working with this new council, I’m encouraged by all these new faces, should be a great council.”

The council Plourde will work with will include Martin Credger, Julien Boucher, Sebastien Lessard, Ken Munnoch as well as Bruce Newton and Guylaine Scherer to make up the unofficial council.

Plourde says he plans to sit down with council and discuss a plan of where the town wants to be within the next four years and how this council will be coming together to accomplish such a feat.

He also says his work under three different Mayors in his 24 years as a member of Kapuskasing council will help to guide him as to how to best handle the role.

Plourde says he also wanted to congratulate all of the candidates for the mayor or council positions who put their names forward in this election.
