Kapuskasing Town Council will be looking for a new member. Guylaine Scherer announced she is stepping down and leaving Kapuskasing to be closer to her family in the Ottawa area.
Scherer was just beginning her second term on council after being elected in 2018. She spent several years in the community working in media relations and broadcasting.
Council will decide how to fill the position at the next meeting either through appointment or to pass a bylaw to hold a by-election.
