The Ministry of Natural Resources is reminding residents its new Invasive Species Act comes into effect this year.
The act gives the MNR more teeth when dealing with wild and plant life which threatens eco systems.
The MNR says the new legislation, which comes into effect in November of this year will help with issues like Hogweed in the north.
It means for, example if Hogweed is found in a community the MNR and other organizations can act on it immediately to have it removed.
