Chamber annual general meeting set for Wednesday lunch hour

A economic update highlights the Northern Corridor Chamber of Commerce’s annual general meeting tomorrow from 11 am to 1:30 at the Centre de Loisirs.

Chamber spokesperson Donna Todd says a full line-up of guest speakers includes GreenFirst Forest Products and Kap Paper’s Ken Munnoch and Malcolm Dorsey the CEO of TORR Metals.

“Yes their going to be giving an update on what’s been happening with the split of Green First into two companies and the future for the community,” she said. “Malcom is going to be talking about TORR metals development of mining between Hearst and Kapuskasing.”

Other speakers include Kapuskasing Mayor Dave Plourde, Hearst Mayor Roger Sigouin, and a spokesperson from Ontario Northland Transportation Commission regarding the return of the Northlander.

“It’s a great opportunity for the local merchants to come together,” she said. “They are members they have a vote with regards to our financial stability. It’s an opportunity for them to network and learn what’s happening with economic development in our near future.”
