New Democrat Carol Hughes remains the MP for Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing.
She says this win was a personal one for her.
Hughes says she’s honoured the riding chose to keep her in office but it doesn’t mean there still isn’t a lot to be done.
The race was a tight one with new comer Andre Robichaud representing the Conservatives garnering nearly 25 per cent of the vote.
Earlier in the evening Liberal candidate Heather Wilson and Hughes were neck and neck.
Hughes says the issues remain the same and that she’s looking forward to working with the new majority government to address them.
