Smooth Rock Falls town council has passed its 2024 budget and it’s calling for a 6 per cent increase in property tax and a 5.5 per cent hike in water and sewer.
Residents will see a tax increase of between $52 and $135, while the water and sewer goes up nearly $69 per household. Several major infrastructure projects are planned including urgent repairs and improvements to the Reg Lamy Arena, phase two development of the Near North Industrial Park, Catherine street construction completed, and water main extension on Sixth Street to Main Street.
Others are: Sustainability project – pool slides, portable pickelball nets and equipment, soccer netting; connecting link repaving from Ross Road to Highway 11 and waterfront master plan feasibility study.
