Kap History: Legion expansion project announced

An expansion of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 85 is our history focus.

In an April 1961 edition of the Northern Times, Legion president Fred Davis said that construction on the long-awaited extension would start in May and it would allow the Legion to grow and add second and third stories like an Assembly hall in the future.

It was reported that the Legion steward was actually living in front bottom of the existing building and the apartment was moved to the new section to make room for the Ladies Auxiliary Lounge.

We appreciate the Kapuskasing Public Library for gathering information to help with our weekly segment.
