Updated respiratory illness data reporting

The Porcupine Health Unit has updated its online reporting of COVID-19 and influenza cases, falling in line with the provincial tool.

COVID-19 response manager Kendra Luxmore says it provides more local and regional data, about the flu and COVID.

“You’ll be able to access both of them separately,” Luxmore explains. “Just log on and see the COVID-19 stats as well as the influenza separately, on the same page.”

That will also help you make a self-assessment, when you’re feeling symptoms.

It’s in line with getting back to basics at the arrival of respiratory illness season, protecting us against COVID, flu and other infections like RSV.

“We want our residents to be aware of all the different things that are happening and be able to make a self-assessment with all the information in one place.”

The big thing, Luxmore repeats, is protection, and that includes deciding whether you should wear a mask.

The usual advice about vaccination applies.  Anyone at least six months old can get both their flu and COVID shots, beginning October 30th.
