Country Tailgate Festival coming this summer to Kapuskasing

Even though the Big Winter Festiglace is still two weeks away, the town of Kap’s tourism and special events coordinator is already thinking about …this summer. Kelly Kraby says Kap Kraze is moving to a two-day tailgate country party on July 29th and 30th.

“The Ontario Demolition Derby is going to be here, and we are going to have a smashing-metal good time,” she said. “For the night-time entertainment, we are bringing back the concert at the arena. We want everyone to fill the arena because we are going to be welcoming the Washboard Union.”

Kraby says Kap Kraze was a one day festival last summer to get everyone back out together after the pandemic. She adds that a country festival was something new and unique with the activities around the Sports Palace.

“If people remember years back we had like a fall fair there – where we did have inflatables,” she said. “It’s going to be the same kind of vibe, still have an outdoor tent, the demo derby is going to be a big draw so there are going to be a lot of activities during the day.”

Tickets for the festival are already available through EventBrite or at the Welcome Centre.
