Here’s some clarity on the confusion about your child’s school marks for the year – especially your high school student.
District School Board Ontario North East director Lesleigh Dye says all marks – kindergarten to Grade 12 – were captured on the last day of classes, back on March 13th.
“They will earn the grade that they were receiving in their course at that time and it can only get better,” Dye adds.
It can get better if the student participates in the online learning offered by the board. For high schools students, Dye recommends at least three hours a week for each course.
“Our teachers – they’ll be assessing the work, they’ll make a valuative judgment that will then be reflected on the report card.”
That mark from March can’t be lowered. However, Dye says if the student didn’t have a passing mark and doesn’t take advantage of the online sessions, they won’t pass.
