North Claybelt receives $3.6 million in FEDNOR funding.

Future business owners young and old in the Kapuskasing region received a big boost on Tuesday. North Claybelt is getting $3.6 million, including $2 million alone for the Head Start in Business thanks to the FedNor program. Federal Minister of Labour Filomena Tassi who was in Kapuskasing for the announcement, says the $1.6 million in funding will also help North Claybelt carry out its services.

“In terms of having entrepreneurs receive the support, the mentoring that they need need in order to to start companies and to grow those companies,” she said.

Tassi says organizations like North Claybelt are extremely important.

“They help entrepreneurs turn those ideas into reality,” she said. “What it means is that a company starts, hires employees and provides services in the north.”

“Business owners and entrepreneur are the lifeblood of Northern Ontario’s economy. This investment in the North Claybelt CFDC is helping to strengthen and diversify the local economy, while enhancing business growth and the economic outlook fro youth, municipalities and indigenous communities throughout the region.”

FedNor is the federal government’s economic agency for Northern Ontario.
