Major Manor Cementary Halloween Fundraiser returns Friday October 23rd

A ‘Haunting for a Cause‘ Halloween fundraiser is back in Kapuskasing next Friday, October 23rd. It’s a walk-through a decorated yard at 103 Mill Street from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. Donations are being accepted through the Witches’ Wallet to support the Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation and the Kapuskasing Food Bank. Homeowner Natasha Major says there are a few new displays and haunting projections that are best seen after dark.

“For the little ones there is nothing that is too scary, so its family friendly so we don’t have any intentional jump scares. But once it does get a little bit darker, it does get a little bit spookier so those with young children are encouraged to come earlier.”

She adds that a lot of thought and time goes into creating her display every year.

“For the actual set up itself, it’s a good two weeks. So that’s why I start usually mid-September so I can be opened up and start welcoming visitors by the last weekend in September.”

And don’t be surprised if the walkthrough grows bigger in the coming years as Major has hinted she might expand to the backyard.

In the past three years, the haunted Halloween event has raised over $3,000 in cash and more than 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food items.
