Trevor and Sylvie Russell to be presented with Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Trevor and Sylvie Russell of Kapuskasing are being presented with the Northern Corridor Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement Award during the gala on November 7th. Trevor Russell says he first wanted to be a lawyer, but a love of computers in high school changed his mind to later opening Trevor’s Computer Centre.

“I enjoy the programming aspects and all of that stuff. What I really love it about it now though are the social interactions, we try to have a good time when people come in. Most people leave with a smile on their face and that’s rewarding in itself.”

The Russells are well known in giving back to the community and Trevor says that because of his grandmother who taught him the importance of paying it forward.

“I’m very proud that we give laptops to graduates of each of the high schools, and this past year we also gave to Kashechewan and because of my grandmother again she grew up in Glasgow, Scotland and had to leave school at age 12 because that’s when free education ended.”

The Chamber’s business awards gala is Saturday, November 7th at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Kolb Avenue. Tickets are available through the Chamber’s website or office.
