The township of Fauquier-Strickland will have a new mayor this fall.
Pierre Lamontagne, who was a councillor last term, was acclaimed to the post after the nomination deadline was extended due to a lack of candidates. Lamontagne replaces Madeleine Tremblay who chose not to seek re-election as mayor.
Meantime, there will be a race for the four councillor positions in October’s municipal election after five people stepped forward. Priscilla Marcoux is the only incumbent amongst those running. Other hopefuls are: Gaetan Gagnon, Bruce Kitching, Nicole Lamontagne, and Jaunita Miscio.
Advance polls take place on Saturday, October 3rd and election day is October 26th. A complete rundown of the candidates is up on our website.
