OPP pauses Crime Stoppers

The OPP is putting its relationship with Crime Stoppers on hold following a cybersecurity incident involving a third-party provider of a tip management platform.

Chief Superintendent Brad McCallum of the crime prevention and community support bureau says the pause will last while the impact of the incident is assessed.

In the meantime, he’s asking anyone with information about crime or public safety to call the OPP or your local police force’s non-emergency line.

Police agencies across Canada have already taken similar steps.
