Canadian Mining Expo draws global interest

This year’s Mining Expo next month at the McIntyre Community Building in Timmins is more than ever attracting global attention.

Mayor Michelle Boileau made Mining Week official with a proclamation at Discovery Porcupine’s Pamour site. She told the gathering of people from diverse mining interests that the show is a global event this year, drawing more than North American companies.

“This year,” she said, “we have companies coming from Finland, from Australia and we have a delegation of – we’re hearing almost 80 people from Tanzania.”

The mayor said they’re mostly purchasers from the fledgling Tanzanian mining industry.

organizer Glenn Dredhart from Canadian Trade-Ex said mining week and the expo celebrate more than the mining industry.

“It celebrates our families,” he remarked. “It celebrates the workforce. It celebrates the future. It celebrates the present.”

The show takes over the Mac on June 10th and 11th.
