Polar Bear Week Nov. 1-7 at Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat

Polar bears are being celebrated all next week at the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat.  It’s Polar Bear Week.

Supervisor Brooke Etherington says the Habitat and its two bears, Henry and Ganuk  are ambassadors for Polar Bears International.

The week begins Sunday with a polar bear enrichment session and interactive talk with staff.

“Even for those who have been here before for our daily keeper talks,” Etherington says, “we have a few more props and things like that that our staff are going to pull out especially for that day.”

That’s at 11:00am and 1:00pm Sunday.

On Friday, a presentation will harken back to the summer.

“We had some researchers from McGill coming, doing some studies on hair samples and so for those of you interested in how that’s going. Those researchers are going to speak with us.”

For the full schedule of events all week, check out the Polar Bear Habitat’s Facebook page or listen to Etherington talking about it in the audio link below.
