Full vaccination after 7 days, not 14, but you could still get and spread COVID-19

It turns out that you’re considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 seven days after your second jab, not the 14 we were told earlier.

Porcupine Health Unit medical officer of health Dr. Lianne Catton says as information continued to evolve and accumulate, experts changed the number.

“Originally, they did say 14 and the latest data when they’re looking at cases that are post-vaccinated, they have said after seven days,” she explains.

You should still follow prevention measures.  Catton says that’s because a lot of people are still unvaccinated and you can still get and spread COVID-19, even if you’re not exhibiting symptoms. She cites evidence based on cases in the region up until May 15th.

“There were 751 cases that were reviewed and only 18 of those individuals who were partially vaccinated ended up becoming cases.” Not many of them, Catton adds, were symptomatic.
