Child luring charges against Hearst resident

Allegedly luring a person under the age of 16 has landed a 21-year-old from Hearst in legal problems.

OPP say they were told last Thursday of an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old. Their investigation wrapped up on Tuesday with charges that include three counts of sexual assault on a person under 16.

The charges against the 21-year-old are as follows:

  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age (three counts)
  • Sexual interference
  • Possession of child pornography
  • Luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication
  • Fail to comply with probation order

Signs of a child predator:

Child predators use online chat rooms and social media applications – as millions of children do every day – to gain access to children. We encourage parents and caregivers to proactively speak to children about online safety.

If you believe a child is in danger, always call 9-1-1. If you have information related to child sexual exploitation, contact your local police. If that is the OPP, please call the non-emergency number (1-888-310-1122). Visit the Canadian Centre for Child Protection at www.protectchildren.ca/ for information and resources.
