Town of Kap awaits findings on check-up done to Donat Brousseau Pool

Donat Brousseau Pool in Kapuskasing has gotten a complete check-up. The Town hired a pool consultant to study the current state of the aquatic facility, and now recreation director Corey Olford says he’s waiting to learn details of the extensive report.

“To help us plan our capital projects and to understand better where we need to invest in the pool when does is make sense to renovate and when does it make sense to replace,” he said.

Olford says it’s important that if the town is going to invest in capital pool projects, it needs to know that the building itself is in good shape.

“That’s the way we are seeing it especially from a planning perspective,” he said. “Again we do know the pool does have some issues. The mechanical system has to be upgraded. We do know that the pool has some plumbing related issues.”

In 2022, the town began exploring plans to build a new pool across the street from the Sports Palace but took the proposal off the table due to high construction costs.
