Kap Kraze draws biggest crowd in four years for Saturday night concert

The numbers are in for last month’s Kap Kraze, the tailgate country derby…and despite rain and cooler temperatures festivalgoers came out in big numbers for the two days. Tourism and special events coordinator Kelly Kraby says in a short period of time, the event is becoming very well-known across Northern Ontario. She adds that the Saturday night concert was the biggest in the four years.

“We drew in just over 1,500 people inside the arena so that’s amazing we are really happy with that,” she said. “The derby itself over the two days we had about 2,000 people, just a little over 2,000 people.”

She adds that the date for next July’s event is still unknown.

“Because we are not sure we want to talk to Timmins, and see if they are going to be doing Rock on the River on the same weekend again so we just need some coordination with our neighbours,” she said.
