First Nations Energy Table Convenes in the North

The Chiefs of Ontario and the provincial government are moving forward on a number of key issues related to energy.

The groups met in Timmins last week at the First Nations Energy Table.

The goal of that conference is to provide a forum for First Nation leaders and the government to identify and work to solve issues and opportunities.

The government is now pledging to ensure renewable energy procurement projects with local support and competitive prices.

Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli says they are achieving real progress in addressing energy policy priorities important to First Nations communities.
