Moonbeam Country Store in Kapuskasing has raised $2,000 for special programs at Cité des Jeunes.
The fundraiser’s goal was to raise both money and awareness for youth autism programs.
Organizer for the event, France Lebel says the fundraiser, in its third year, is a personal one for the owners.
She says Rene and Lucy Labelle have a grandson with autism and they’re hoping to help others in the community in the same situation.
Customers have raised over $900 in the last week, with the store matching the donations and then some.
Every year a school is chosen at random to receive the funding for special programs.
