The OPP has released more information on a death in Kapuskasing over the weekend, which sparked a SIU investigation.
Police say they were in the area of Ballentyne Road and Highway 11 investigating a report of a missing person on Saturday evening.
The OPP says an officer approached a vehicle and found a man inside carrying what appeared to be a rifle.
Police say they secured the area and called in an emergency response team and a crisis negotiator.
The OPP says the man was found to be deceased around 8:30am on Sunday morning after suffering a gunshot wound.
Police and the SIU have not yet released the name of the deceased.
