Ron Morel Memorial Museum ready to welcome tourists this summer in Kap

Kapuskasing’s Ron Morel Memorial Museum is ready to welcome visitors to check out the history of the community.

Tourism and Special Events Coordinator Kelly Kraby says among the displays this summer include the lumberjack heritage, Prisoner of War and a car dedicated to train enthusiasts. She adds there’s a new exhibit all about the visit of a special Princess who would soon be Queen.

“It’s all about her visit here just details all of the stops here she did and there old pictures there so it’s a real cool exhibit,” she said.

Kraby says the museum is a busy place.

“We have people from all over,” she said. “Canadians and we see those staycationers that are going across Canada. People from the roots of the Crow Creek village near Opasatika came here because they have ties to that Japanese settlement.”

Kraby says they’ve got four summer students to help with tours of the museum that’s open daily from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday thru Friday. Admission is free but donations are greatly appreciated.
