Kap resident raising money and food with Halloween decorations

A Halloween enthusiast wants to share not only her love of it with her fellow Kapuskasing residents but she’s also hopeful to raise money for a good cause.

Natasha Major has a variety of Halloween decoration displayed on the front lawn of her Mill Street home. She encourages people to drive by and check them out,  and if they like what they see — to make donation to the Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation.

“In the yard there is a sign with a QR code. People can scan with their phones and it will bring them to Pay Pal where they can make a financial contribution that way,” she said. “They can make an E-transfer to [email protected], and there is a spot to leave non-perishable food items for the food bank.”

Major says she was inspired by a growing trend in the United States to add a fundraising option.

“I’ve added the infamous 12 foot skeleton from Home Depot which I’ve named Kapu-skelly; I’ve also got a life-sized coffin; I’ve got a grim reaper like statue that I’ve made myself, a skeleton dungeon,” she said.

The display will be lit up at dusk every night leading up to Halloween next month. There will be full animation and sounds on weekends and then the entire week of October 31st.
