The chair of the Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board welcomes the news that Ottawa and Queen’s Park have buried the hatchet on the National Housing Strategy.
Three-hundred-and-fifty-seven-million dollars were unlocked, when Ontario submitted a new plan that’s more acceptable to the federal government.
Timmins mayor Michelle Boileau chairs CDSSAB, which is the district’s housing service manager.
“We weren’t sure what was going to happen to the allocations over the coming years,” she says. “We had been told that we’d see a decrease in affordable housing funds. So this is promising. This should mean that our funding will remain stable.”
By the end of the year, the provincial government will submit a funding plan for the period covering 2025 through ’28.
