With the 2024 NHL playoffs still in progress, our Kapuskasing local history feature this week takes to the ice.
In the Northern Times issue of January 3rd, 1962, Rocky Rukavina of the Kap GMs  is featured as the Doran’s Northern Brewery player of the week.
In a game in Iroquois Falls, he scored a natural hat-trick, potting the first three Kap goals of the game.
He was actually off to a slow start that season, but that performance improved his record to 13 goals and ten assists, proving why he was all-star left winger the previous season.
