Kap history: ‘Pizza pie’ arrives

A new restaurant was the talk of the town in November, 1961, and is the topic of this week’s feature on Kapuskasing history.

The Northern Times reported that town council granted a licence to “Capri Pizzeria” at 9 Lang Ave.

As the article says, “It will, as its name implies, specialize in the new very popular pizza pie, which they will serve for a variety of tastes and in a variety of sizes”.

It also said that Capri would serve other Italian foods that were coming into their own.

Thank you to the Kapuskasing Public Library for supplying the material for our weekly history feature.
