Two major events in the community have helped to add to the coffers of the Kapuskasing Food Bank.
Mayor Dave Plourde presented Food Bank chairperson Rick Bartlett with a cheque for $2,076.11 from the ‘Feed the Meter Campaign’ over the holiday season. The total was more than $400 more than what was collected last year and the first time it’s gone over $2,000 since 2017.
Meantime, the Ontario Provincial Police and Kapuskasing Fire Department teamed up to face the Kapuskasing Flyers in a charity game to benefit the food bank this past Saturday night. A total of 570 pounds of food and $540 in cash was collected from the event at the Sports Palace.
