Kapuskasing Town Council meetings could be coming to your computer soon. Clerk Chantal Guillemette says she is exploring cost friendly options to offer the service that is similar to what other communities have.
She adds the program would allow residents to watch but not participate.
“So the one option we came up with is the live streaming option that’s directly linked to our current civic web that you download our agendas from and it would time stamp with the agendas,” she said.
Guillemette says you can go through the agenda and select a specific section they want to review. All of the videos would also be archived on a YouTube Channel.
She adds it depends how sophisticated council wants the video and audio for the meetings.
“Cause right now we use a meeting owl that has a 360 degree camera and it captures sound as well,” she said. “The council chambers is a bit of a funky room because the acoustics are not great, a room that echoes a lot so it’s hard to capture good sound.”
The other option would uses Microsoft Teams but requires more work from town staff to publicize and archive meetings.
