The first Big Winter Festiglace in Kapuskasing was a success! That’s the summation from tourism and special events coordinator Kelly Kraby. She notes that extending the festival by a whole week worked out well with big crowds at the fishing derby and the soap box sled competition.
“I’m really proud of what we were able to accomplish over these nine days or the extended days as well,” he said. “I know the weather — on the last weekend wasn’t in our favour but it kind of ended up being the best.”
Kraby says what made Festiglace a hit was the partnership between the town of Kap and various organizations.
“I’m looking forward to getting feedback in writing from our partners and see how everything worked out on their end as well,” he said. ” I want to see how we can improve if not next year.”
Kraby says just the smiles on people’s faces makes her realize that the festival will be back again.
Two summer festivals will take place this summer — the Festival de la St. Jean at the Centre de Loisirs, and the Kap Kraze Country Festival at the Sports Palace.
