Validus Power CEO says Calstock Power Plant a great facility

The CEO of Validus Power says he would love to have the Calstock Power plant in his company’s portfolio. Todd Shortt says his company keeps all options on the table should that plant or any other become available.

“It’s such a great plant and a great site that I can’t see anyone worrying about the Calstock plant. I would imagine there would be a line-up to get that one,” he said. “So everyone knows it’s public knowledge that you can go read what the extension is and how long it will be generated to the province for.”

Last year Atlantic Power signed a new five-year agreement with the Calstock Power Plant located on Highway 11 West of Hearst, that ended a stretch of failed negotiations and several extensions to keep the plant in operation.

Shortt says Atlantic Power was a great partner to do business with and made purchasing its first plant seamless.

Validus Power has projects both in Kapuskasing and Iroquois Falls.
