The Festival of Light is back for another year and part of a big day of activities at Riverside Park in Kapuskasing on Saturday, Dec. 4th. 100 committee chairman Julien Boucher says the day’s events also include a free movie at the Royal Theatre, a craft fair at LaForge, a hockey tournament at the Sports Palace, and the Rotary Club’s Holiday Parade at 1 pm.
“The official opening of the festival of lights which will be at 6:30 at Riverside Park with a bonfire, there’s going to be Christmas music performed by the Dead Ducks, free hot chocolate from Tim Horton’s,” he said.
The night also includes a Christmas Treasure hunt and a visit from Santa Claus. Boucher says town of Kap crews have been busy installing lights and displays all over the park and can’t wait to see it all lit up.
Last year’s ceremony was virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the provincial lockdown, and Boucher adds that it’s nice to be back with all of the activities.
“It was pretty sad to only have a virtual ceremony with no large gatherings and stuff,” he said. “So it’s going to be nice to have a whole day of fun day of activities for everyone to enjoy.”
