Officials from GreenFirst Forest Products in Kapuskasing are hitting the road tomorrow as part of a job fair. Mill General Manager Pascal Champoux says they will be starting in Val-Rita Harty and making their way to Smooth Rock Falls before concluding later in the day in Kapuskasing at about 3 pm.
“So we are looking at filling vacant positions for both the newsprint mill and the sawmill and also be prepared for upcoming retirements,” he said. “We have approximately 20 positions to fill in various fields such as laborers, trades, power engineers, office workers, supervisors as well as engineers.”
Champoux said the caravan will be easy to spot with a tractor trailer full of lumber and large signs.
“We wanted to get closer to people instead of waiting for individuals to come knocking at the door,” he said. “So we thought we would go and meet them in the communities and give people a chance to ask questions about the jobs at the mill. It’s also a great opportunity for people to meet those folks currently working in the mill.”
Champoux said those interested should bring along their resume and might even get a second interview that day.
