The Kapuskasing Fire Department and a Halloween Haunted House are both helping to stock the shelves of the Food Bank. The Fire Department food drive is Monday at 6 pm and you can leave your items in a box or a bag at the end of the driveway to be picked up. Food Bank Chairman Rick Bartlett outlines some of the items needed this time of the year.
“Kraft dinner, bags of sugar, cereal, jams, crackers, juice packs for kids and ketchup,” he said. “Everything will be accepted willingly and happily, but those are the things we are quite low on right now.”
Donations of non-perishable food items are being accepted to tour a Halloween Haunted house on 40 Gurney Road on Halloween night. The Poitras family has been creating their spooky haunted house for several years to help support the Food Bank.
The first week of the Centre De Sante’s Sub-Zero winter clothing giveaway event is set for today from noon to 3:30 and continues for three consecutive Thursdays after that. Bartlett said the giveaway will help those in need.
“Downstairs at the food bank and every member of the family will get to try on and quite possibly bring home a winter jacket,” he said.
