Construction to resume on Government Road next week; several other streets to get paved later this summer

Construction is expected to resume on Monday on a stretch of Government Road from LaSalle to Gurney Road.

Manager of Public Works Eric Cote says they hope to have the project wrapped up by the end of August. During last night’s meeting, town council agreed to pave St. Patrick’s and Algonquin Streets, as well as apply surface treatment to Gough Road once the construction on government road has concluded. The total cost of the paving of the those streets is $340,000. Cote says the project should have been included in this year’s budget but was omitted.

The town will use money from the Federal Gas Tax revenue to pay for the project.

Last year, the town resurfaced Cournoyer, Willow and North Streets, as well as De L’Etang Boulevard.
