Flex Bus info sessions draw good crowds

There were certainly plenty of interested people that attended the public information session in Kapuskasing to learn about the new flex bus. Town of Kapuskasing officials as well as representatives from Val-Rita Harty spoke to local residents who had questions regarding the new service. Town of Kap Clerk Chantal Guillemette says they chose a different format for the sessions.

“We chose to do a format of a one-on-one,” said Guillemette. “So people can just walk in and ask questions about the service. This is something new so there will be things to change, so we will adapt to that.”

Guillemette says some residents were concerned about the timing of the bus.

“They will pick me up at door so how much time to I have to allow, and how to I get a ride?,” she said. “You have to book your ride 24 hours in advance so the drivers can plan their route.”

The door-to-door service will be offered for residents from Moonbeam to Opasatika, including Kapuskasing. It will be free in October but then riders will pay in November. There is one final meeting set for Val Rita-Harty on Saturday from 1-2 pm at the community centre.
