A young visitor to Cochrane has been killed by a car.
OPP Constable Stéphanie Bélec says the collision happened at about 2:30am on Highway 11, just west of Cochrane.
“It was determined that Kelsey Strang, a 16-year-old from Pikangikum First Nation had been involved in the collision and she was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Bélec says, adding
“It was close to town. It was, I would say, just west of town and the motor vehicle was headed eastbound towards Cochrane.”
Paramedics and firefighters helped out at the scene.
The highway was closed between Cochrane and Driftwood, until shortly after 10:00am.
