Kashechewan evacuees arrival pushed back a day

Not quite yet.

That is the word from Kapuskasing’s General Manager of Protective Services Pat Kennedy regarding further evacuees from Kashechewan arriving in town.

Kennedy had mentioned earlier in the week to MyKapuskasingNow.com that the original plan was to see another group of evacuees make their way into town today.

However, he notes a change of plans has now pushed that arrival date back a day to tomorrow.

Kennedy says he expects to know a little more regarding the scenario following an 11am conference this morning.

Currently, Kapuskasing is housing 514 evacuees who made their way into town two weeks ago when a full-scale emergency was called for the Kashechewan First Nation.
