The clown phenomenon has made its way to Northern Ontario.
Several people have reported seeing clowns around Timmins, but none so far in Kapuskasing or Cochrane.
Timmins Police Constable Rick Lemieux is weighing in on the issue, saying it’s not a funny prank and it can be dangerous. He says if you do see a creepy clown out in public, don‘t approach them and call the police.
Lemieux says trespassing charges may be laid on the clown, but if they aren‘t doing anything illegal police will speak with them about the dangers of the prank.
Lemieux says he‘s in the schools all the time, and says kids are scared.
The police constable says it can be dangerous for those dressing as clowns too, as so-called clown hunters are also appearing on social media.
