UHearst Welcomes Student Refugee

A student refugee studying at the University of Hearst has started his classes. The school announced their involvement with the Student Refugee Program last December and has welcomed Elphase Izibose from Rwanda.

A refugee is someone who can’t go back to their country for security reasons. The student refugee program has been helping young refugees achieve their dreams for over 35 years through post-secondary education.

Elphase started his courses in August and is enrolled in “Etudes des Enjeux Humains et Sociaux”. There is a local committee in place to ensure his well-being and to help him adjust with the transitioning.

UHearst has decided to waive all of the tuition fees for the student refugee.
