As of October 1st minimum wage is going up in the province.
Right now minimum wage is $11.25 an hour or $10.55 for students. At the start of next month those numbers will go up to $11.40 and $10.70.
Timmins-James Bay MPP, Gilles Bisson, says the increase is a step in the right direction, but he doesn’t know if it’s enough to make a difference.
Bisson says the people who spend money locally are the ones who aren’t making the big bucks. He says minimum wage going up in the province will have a positive economic impact.
