The Special Investigations Unit has determined that OPP officers are not responsible for the death of a 22 year-old Kapuskasing man.
Last October police received reports of a man who was missing and in possession of a firearm. Officers were able to locate the car and called in specialized response teams to assist. After an eight hour stand-off, the man was found in his vehicle with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The SIU investigate reports to see if an officer has committed a criminal offence. They determined that police did everything they could under the circumstances and no charges were laid.
