Environment Canada has issued another heat warning for many parts of Northeastern Ontario. With temperatures expected to get up to the high 30’s with the humidex, Environment Canada has issued a warning to anyone who plans on being outside.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose a risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Environment Canada reminds the public to drink plenty of fluids especially water before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration.
The heat warning will come to an end Friday morning with the passage of a cold front. While the heat can put everyone at risk, health risks are greater for older adults, young children, people with chronic illnesses, those who work in the heat and anyone without access to air conditioning. Environment Canada is reminding the public to never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle in direct sunlight.
