The town survey asking for opinions on a new aquatic facility in Kapuskasing is now closed. The deadline to fill out the survey was yesterday. The proposed facility would consist of a regulation 25 meter, 6 lane pool that would be able to host swimming competitions. The town says the energy efficient technology would significantly lower operating costs. The new facility would also have an important economic and health impact in terms of attracting and retaining new residents. CAO for the town of Kapuskasing Yves Labelle says the point of the survey was to determine if there was a need in the community.
Labelle also says they will receive some government funding but will need to raise the rest.
The proposed aquatic facility would be attached to the Sports Palace on the same side as the Fire Station.
