LHIN Palliative Care Volunteer Contributions Helping HPCO in Development

The province will be examining volunteer programs within the North East LHIN in palliative care.

Hospice Palliative Care Ontario will be taking its cues from performance indicators within the seven programs in northern Ontario.

Services include relieving isolation, grief and loss support and advanced care planning.

HPCO will be examining volunteers working in locations like Elliott Lake, Cochrane, Nipissing, Sudbury, Algoma and Espanola.

The LHIN says hospice volunteers play a vital role in providing services, with about 26,000 hours of work with 1,800 palliative patients in the region.
