Hair-a-thon Organizers Looking to the Future Thanks to Community Support

All proceeds from the second annual Hair-a-thon will be going to the family of a young boy who’s been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy.

Hairdressers from seven different salons in the area, along with local businesses and volunteers came together for the second year in a row.

Members of Kapuskasing’s fire department and officers from the James Bay OPP showed up for a trim and to donate to the event.

One of the events’ organizers, Pascal Fraser, says the community support, in terms of attendance and local businesses getting involved, has been overwhelming.

Fraser says the Knights of Columbus made a huge contribution to the family, presenting a cheque of $5,000 at the event.

Organizers are hoping to put together an official committee for next year as the event grows.
