Emergency Work Needed on Riverside Drive

Commuters can expect significant delays on Riverside Drive in about a month’s time as Public Works will be dealing with an urgent situation.

Manager of Public Works Eric Cote says the sewer system on Riverside between Byng and McPherson has collapsed and must be dealt with quickly.

Cote says there are significant challenges when dealing with sewage as it isn’t a system which can be stopped during work and there is currently a water main built above the aging system.

He says if the project doesn’t get taken care of quickly, it could cause flooding inside homes within the service area.

Public Works says the project is expected to begin in about month and should take about three weeks to complete.
