A relatively new group trying to restore passenger train service in the north says support for its drive is growing.
NEORN, which stands for Northern and Eastern Ontario Rail Network, says rail links communities and First Nations.
It says in addition to providing socio-economic benefits, there’s also the tourism aspect.
NEORN says compared to motor vehicles, trains produce less greenhouse gas emissions.

It’s making this point to the federal and provincial governments as they undertake climate change programs.
